Fresh Bagels Baked Daily, Ready at Dawn

Homemade bagels, real ingredients, and a welcoming crew serving Edison since before your alarm goes off.

About Us

At Manhattan Bagel on Amboy Ave, the day starts at 6 a.m. sharp, and so do the bagels. Owner Eric is typically on the floor early, greeting regulars by name and making sure every order lands exactly right. That kind of personal attention is why customers keep coming back year after year, not out of habit, but because it genuinely feels different here.

The bagels are made in-house, which means the crust has that satisfying chew and the inside stays soft without turning gummy an hour later. You can taste the difference between something baked fresh and something that rode a truck. Here, there is no guessing which one you are getting.

The shop sits inside a shopping center with a spacious parking lot, making it an easy stop whether you are grabbing breakfast on the way to work or settling in for a slow Sunday morning coffee. Open every day of the week from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, it fits into your morning routine without asking you to rearrange it.

What We Offer

The menu is built around fresh-baked bagels in a wide range of varieties, from classic plain and everything to sesame, poppy, and beyond. Pair any bagel with cream cheese, lox spreads, or a fully loaded breakfast sandwich stacked with eggs, meat, and melted cheese.

Beyond bagels, the cafe side of the operation covers hot coffee, espresso drinks, and fresh-squeezed juice options to round out your morning. Breakfast platters and lighter bites make this a solid sit-down option, not just a grab-and-go counter.

Catering orders for office meetings, weekend brunches, or any group event are available as well. A dozen assorted bagels with cream cheese goes fast, so calling ahead is always a smart move for larger orders.

Why Choose Us

Owner Eric is hands-on daily, ensuring every customer gets personal, attentive service from someone who actually cares.
Bagels are made in-house from scratch, giving you the real chewy crust and soft interior that bagged brands cannot replicate.
Rated 4.2 stars across 429 reviews, with a loyal customer base that has been returning consistently for years.
Open 7 days a week starting at 6:00 AM, earlier than most breakfast spots in the Edison area.
Ample parking in a convenient shopping center location on Amboy Ave makes stopping in completely stress-free.
A family-friendly atmosphere that feels like a neighborhood spot, not a chain counter with a number system.

"Ok so being Google keeps asking me to review here I thought and nice Sunday morning coffee and bagel would be good. There is a big parking lot being it’s part of a shopping center. Walking in no confusion as to where to go to order. Everyone seemed very nice and helpful. I think it took me longer to make my coffee then it took to make and bag my bagel. Let me stop boring you with the BS stuff let’s talk bagel and coffee. I have been to a few bagel shops and I have to say Manhattan Bagel has the softest bagels. I did just get a buttered salt but wow the outside was mildly crunchy but like I said nice and soft in the middle. As far as coffee I tried their fall blend pumpkin spice and it tasted very deluded, not to much taste. They didn’t have French vanilla so I went with the pumpkin. Would I go back 100% the bagel was fantastic"

"Im always willing to give a place a fair shot. The 2nd time I ordered from here they gave me expired orange Juice. Tried one more time this definitely doesnt look appetizing. Bagel is burnt, bacon was overly cooked. Just disappointed"

"It's what you want in a NJ bagel place. I've been coming here for years and they never disappoint. A wide variety of bagels, sandwich options, and of course you can just build to your own liking. Coffee is great too. My personal favorite is sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese, with salt, pepper, chipotle dressing on a toasted rye. And yes, they do an awesome pork roll, egg, and cheese as well. They also have seasonal coffee as well, so you get get your Pumpkin Spice, and Winter Blend fix on when it's that time of the year. All bagels made on site."

"Happen to come across this place by accident. Stopped in for the very first time this morning to get breakfast for my mom (and of course, myself, lol) First, let me say, a VERY good first impression. The breads, bagels, and muffins were beautifully displayed. The handsome older gentleman took my order immediately. I ordered a buttered roll, a buttered everything bagel, a toasted buttered corn muffin, and a pumpkin muffin. The amount of butter was spot on!!! Just the right amount and spread evenly (All the other places just glob it on) Everything was delicious!!! Will definitely be my go-to going forward. The only disappointment was when I returned for coffee the handsome older gentleman wasn't there."
